I have to admit, until I read Breakfast At Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn didn't mean much to me. Then I watched the movie and fell in love. Not necessarily with the movie itself but with how wonderfully whimsical she is. My friend Fran would agree with me of course, the word whimsical and I have an ongoing flirtation. Oh to live life without direction..

Hi everybody!
Who doesn’t love to dream about being able to afford all the designer clothes, shoes, and accessories we like? Today I decided to let my mind drift away and pretend that I can purchase every item that I like, just like Blair Waldorf. I spent all morning in heaven, that is, the Matches website.

I therefore decided to pick a dress and create an outfit of how I would style it from day to night. I surely was spoilt for choice. Oh my, so my gorgeous things. Well, if I had all the money in the world, you will surely see me going around wearing these items…
I chose this really pretty navy blue Suzannah full skirted fifties dress as a base for my day to night looks. For the day time look, I decided to team it with flat Opening Ceremony Julietta loafers to tone down the dress. I then matched a burnt-orange Maison Martin Margiela leather doctor’s bag to the burnt-orange detail of the loafers. I chose this handbag style in order to keep with the retro feel of the dress. To finish off the look, I chose a dainty Kiki McDonough diamond and yellow gold bee necklace to further enhance the femininity of this outfit.
With regards to the night time look, I paired the dress with nude Christian Louboutin Love Me pumps. According to the Matches website, these pumps ”will complement your look to romantic Parisian perfection”, and this is exactly what I was trying to portray with this outfit. Score. Again, the small navy bow will further enhance the femininity of this outfit. To finish off this night time outfit, I then chose this Bottega Veneta nude-pink woven satin box clutch bag and this statement Shourouk blush-pink wax necklace. And hello glamourous girl!

I was raised on a love of Old Hollywood films – the type of cinema best enjoyed in a drive-in theater with a hand to hold. The style in these classic films (like “East of Eden”, “Bringing Up Baby”, etc.) had a profound impact on the way I developed in a fashion-stunted environment. Even through a black-and-white lens, watching these actors move with such graceful panache became a spiritual experience for me. I found salvation in their iconicism.

This is the beginning

Spent the weekend in the beautiful and green Asturias, in north Spain and visited Covadonga, a really
intriguing place hidden between threes and rocks up in the mountain near Cangas de Onís, the first
capital of Spain after King Pelayo started the reconquest of the country. It inspired me a perfect
mixture between future and past, the sort of thing I tried to achieve with this look.
Acabo de llegar de pasar un fin de semana en mi querida Asturias donde, después de mas de diez años,
volví a visitar Covadonga, un lugar intrigante escondido entre bosques y rocas en las montañas cerca
de Cangas de Onís, la primera capital de España desde que el Rey Pelayo empezara la reconquista
del país. El lugar me inspiró una perfecta mezcla entre el futuro y el pasado, lo que intenté
conseguir con este look.

Totally Inspired
I look for inspiration in the strangest places – from the shape of a bicycle handlebar to the prism of color in oily water – and I feel like they find me. I know I’m going to sound like a Nepalese monk but, we’re all on a constant journey of mental and spiritual growth. Every facet of our being is taking in new and unusual experiences through our five senses. For me, if it came down to it, I would choose to retain my sight over the others. To see color and movement is a special force in pushing my own personal creativity forward. It gets me asking questions, prodding me like an unseen phantom. The images above are just a very (very) small handful of the images I have in my inspiration archive. Many of these were pulled from the magical dreamblog that UK-based digital creator Iain Clairidge has crafted. What inspires you? If you could only keep one of your senses, which one would it be?
