Day two of this year’s MBFWA experience started and ended with my first show at 5pm – Manning Cartell.

I chose not to take time off from work this year to attend Fashion Week on a full-time basis, and a result of this is that I have had to be very selective about the shows I choose to see as I am only really able to attend just one show per day.

Anyways – back to the details; held at a truly industrial space that is The Shed at Carriageworks, Manning Cartell‘s SS13 collection, Fate & Chance featured a variety of design elements that ranged from futuristic aesthetics – structured and firm shiny fabrics – to more feminine components with sheer, layered netting and lace creating delicate-hard juxtapositions.

Fate & Chance is definitely a collection that I can envision myself picking not just a few, but multiple looks from – without any issues; however I’m not too sure my credit card would agree with me though…

Day one of MBFWA started off with a bang with the crowd buzzing (to say the least) at this year’s new venue – Carriageworks. Kicking off the week was Camilla and Marc who, also celebrating their 10th year anniversary this year opened MBFWA with their spring/summer 2013 runway show: Concentric.

Concentric was inspired by the layers of the Russian Matryoska Doll, citing parallels between the layered dolls and the brand’s own layered past; conveying a sense of harmonious interplay between it’s history and the brand as it is now. The collection is a vivid, textual, sharp showcase of Camilla and Marc‘s signature styles and silhouettes, updated with a modern viewpoint.

Over the last 10 years, Camilla and Marc have shaped their brand into being one of Australia’s most coveted; and I’m sure that there are very few doubts that they will continue to do so in the coming years. Congratulations C&M!

“Some fairy tales end with the girl marrying the prince… some start there.” – Diane von Furstenberg and Yvan Mispelaere

On the evening of the 24th of October, thanks to Westfield – I was lucky enough to be in the presence of one of fashion’s most iconic women: Diane von Furstenberg.

Ms. Furstenberg made her first trip to Australia in 31 years to launch the DVF penthouse at Hayman Island in Queensland’s Whitsundays however, she also put on a very special runway show in Sydney’s Westfield showcasing her Spring 2013 collection, Palazzo.

Check out the video to get a glimpse of the final walk through of the show, and you might even get a look at the beautful Ms. DVF herself!

Rishta by Arjun Saluja. SS 13. Collection is called Two in One — defined as Arjun’s continuing exploration of androgyny. The colour palette made of opposites and complements tells the story of struggle and strength, truth and dreams, reality and escape, destruction and liberation. Garments from last season+ SS 13 collection.

Ashish Soni. SS 13. It looks great in the stall. Looking forward to seeing it.

Pero by Aneeth Arora. SS 13. Inspired by people outside mosques dressed in long white kurtas teamed with striking blue-checkered lungis. Chikankari work + smocking, quilting, and gathering + hand crafted trims like crochet and lace. Photos from her stall.

—- I’m at the shows at Wills India Fashion Week. Been shooting a lot of video footage this time. Hoping to put them all together to make a film of sorts.

This morning we headed over to Bergdorf Goodman for hair and makeup, the views overlooking Central Park were breathtaking and the first time I had properly seen it.

My mother would later that day be participating in the “Real Fashion, Real Women” runway show benefiting ”Bottomless Closet“, we were super excited to support such a great cause and my mother would be helping a homeless woman with her makeover and choose some clothes for her runway debut and red carpet later that evening.

The charity supports homeless or women in need and prepare and aid them to get jobs and train them in special workshops and provide them with the right tools to attend interviews to get them back on their feet.

We had a few hours to kill beforehand so we walked around New York for a couple of hours and walked into Schwarz toy store to find some goodies for the kids (my little brothers and sister back in Monaco). Being in America everything was totally oversized and crazy colourful, bacon lollipops??? Do you think they actually taste like bacon? #onlyinAmerica

As you might know, I’m not one to blog runway/editorial posts, but after seeing this collection how could I possibly resist?
